MASTERTON RACING CLUB’S MEETING. second” DAY. (By Our Special Correspondent.) MASTERTON, Alarch 15. Tho weather was fine to-day, and about 300 people attended the meeting. The going was heavy. Kohunui was well ridden in the Hurdles, aud Mr Ussher was cheered on his success. Another popular win was that of Air C. F. Vallance, one of the vice-presidents of the club, on Raema. Sir Agnes showed improved form, but did not meet any of the horses he was defeated by yesterday. On to-day’s running he could have won the big raco yesterday. The stewards, at the request of the owner of Gipsy Queen, held an inquiry, but decided not to disturb the judge’s decision. Qipsy Queen had a winning turn in the Telephone Handicap. Regret must have had a great chance had she not been left at the post. Roney, trained on* the Gpaki course, paid a sensational dividend in the Welter Hack. Two of the six were investments from Wanganui. The winner was cheered, an unusual thing for an outsider. Air Knox did not profit by the dividend. Gipsy Jack did not show to advantage in the mud, and The Bugler heat him in the Railway Hack Handicap. TRAINING NOTES. PBESS ASSOCIATION. NAPIER, March 15. The tracks were somewhat heavy for the winding-up gallops at Hastings this morning, and the work principally consisted of sprinting. la beat Sirius rather easily in a five-furlong gallop. Black Wing, who arrived from Wanganui last night, galloped five furlongs in good style. Skobeleff and Materoa were associated in. a four-furlong sprint, the former having all the best of it. Battleaxe and Okoari were restricted to pacing work. The Hempie, who readied Hastings last night, put in a good gallop. . Battleaxe, Skobeleff and Ideal are most fancied for the Oup. The weather gives promise of being perfect.
