- • THE PENDING ELECTIONS. PARLIAAIENTARY NOAHNATIONS. (Received Alarch 15, 1.2 a.:n.) SYDNEY, Alarch 14. Nominations closed to-day for the Federal Senate. Fifty were received, including nominees of the labour and Socialist branches. The most prominent nominees, who range through, the social gamut from a tram guard up, are tho Hon R. E. O’Connor, AI.L.C. (Alinister of Justice iu the third Alinistry of Sir G. Dibhs), Air A. J. Gould (Alinister of Justice under Sir H. Parkos from 1889-1891), Colonel Alackay (who raised the First Australian. Horse, and is now commanding the New South Wales Bushmen in South Africa), and Air John Norton (editor of “Truth”). AIELBOURNE, Alarch 14. Nominations were made to-day for election to both Houses of the Federal Parliament.

There were twenty nominations for the Senate, including Sir W. A. Zeal, AI.L.C., Sir Frederick Sargood, AI.L.C.’ Air J. G. Duffy, SI.L.A., Air W. A. Watt (ex-Postmaster-General), Air J; L. Dow, Mr G. L. Purves, K.C., Air Robert Reid, AI.L.C., Mr Simon, Fraser, AI.L.C. *

Over sixty nominations were received for the House of Representatives. Sir John Quick (Bendigo), the Hon A. McLeau M.L.A., ex-Premier (Gippsland), and Mr S. Maugher, M.L.A. (Melbourne Ports) were returned unopposed. Mr Maugher is secretary of the Protectionist Association. Among the nominees for the House are Sir George Turner, Federal Treasurer (St. Kilda) • Mr Alfred Deakin, Federal AttorneyGeneral (Ballarat); the Hon J. A. Isaacs (Indi); Mr Oarty Salmon (Laanocoone) j and Sir Malcolm McEaciiearu (Melbourne). ~~
