The Customs returns for yesterday amounted to £1156 2s sd. The New Zealand LBan and Mercantile Agency Company, Limited, report a very successful sale of dairy stock and dairy utensils on Tuesday on account of Mr John Murray, at his farm, Horokiwi road, Petone. About 40 cows averaged £5 per head; cows in full milk brougnt from £3 17s 6d to £7 2s 6d: springing heifers, from £3 6s to £6 12s 6d. They also sold at the same place a number of dairy cattle, on account of Mr Bcden, at satisfactory prices. PRESS ASSOCIATION. CHRISTCHURCH, March 13. There were good entries and a large attendance at Addington market today : Fat cattle—236 were yarded. Owing to the largo entry, the sale was irregular, but for prime quality beef last week’s prices were maintained, though medium and inferior quality were easier and per 1001 b 17s Gd to 22s 6d may ho quoted. Per head, good steers ran from £8 12s 6d to £9 15s; medium, £7 5s to £8 2s 6d; ordinary steers, £6 to £8; heifers, £5 17s 6d to £8 17s 6d; cows, £5 5s to £7 17s 6d. Dairy cattle—The demand was good; best sorts to £6 10s; aged, £3 to £o. Store cattle—The sale was dull, and prices showed a decline. Calves and yearlings sold up to 355; fifteen to oighteen-months-old cattle, 555; old beasts (mixed), £3 12s 6d; three-year-old steers, £3 ss. i Fat sheep—A fair yarding. Heavy weight wethers, 19s 6d to 2ps 3d; freezers, 17s to 19s; . backward and light wethers, to 16s 5d ; heavy-weight ewes, 16s to 18s; medium, 13s to 15s 6d; others, 10s 9d to 12s 6d; merino wethers for freezing, 13,s 3d. Fat ewes were irregular of sale, but prices were practically the same as those of last week. There was but little competition, for freezing sheep, and most of the better class wethers were taken by butchers. The store sheep entry was 11,276, for which the demand all round was good at last week’s prices, but with a slight advance on' breeding ewes. Pigs—The supply was fairly good, but the market was somewhat irregular. Baconers; 36s to 47s 6d; heavyweights, up to 57s 6d, equal to 3jd to 4cl per lb; porkers, 22s to 345, or 4d to 4Jd per lb ; stores, 12s to 17s: small pigs, 4s 6d to Bs. DUNEDIN, March 13. At the Burnside were yarded. Very prime sold, fairly well, but other lands were neglected. Best bullocks, £9 to £lO 10s; extra, up to £ll 7s 6di; good, £6 to £8 10s; best cows and heifers, £5 to £6 10a; extra, up to £7 17s 6d. Fat sheep—l 673 were penned, and sold, under moderate competition, at lower rates than those lately ruling. Best wethers, 17s 6d to 19s; extra, up to 21s; best ewes, 15s to 17s 6d; extra, ut> to 19s. Fat lambs—llol were penned, and sold well, at slightly reduced rates. Best, 12s to 13s 6d; extra, up to 14s 6d. Pigs—lß2 came forward, and prices wore equal to recent quotations. Suckers, 5s to 9s; slips, 11s to 15s; stores, 18s to 225; porkers, 24s to 31s; bacoru ers, 35s to 525; heavy pigs, up to 60s.
