Owing to the Eotoiti being so late in her arrival from New Plymouth with her cargo of butter it is probable that the Tekoa will be.' delayed in sailing for London till tomorrow. ■ , , ... The strong southerly gale which was raging yesterday seriously interfered with coastal steamers. The Dingadee, from Westport, was eleven hours late; the Pukaki, from the same port, was twelve hours behind time; the Herald, from Greymouth, was seven hours late; and the Rotoiti, fropi New Plymouth did not reach port till eleven hours after she was expected, or 26 hours out from New Plymouth. . It is reported that the P. and'O. Company is building two 10,006-ton steamers fori the Australian service. Four steamers, the Somali, Sicilia, Soudan and Syria are being completed for the company's service between London and Calcutta, in consequence of the growth of traffic on that line. ■ A Press Association message states that the Tekoa, which left this port on January 19th, arrived in London on Monday last. . The Eotoiti brought down from New Plymouth and Onehunga for the Aotea 13.’500 boxes of butter and 628 cases of cheese, also 139 boxes of butter and 119 cases of cheese for Melbourne. The Eimutaka was to leave Lyttelton last evening for Waitara, and is to go theface to Wanganui, returning to Wellington to complete her Home loading. Every passenger berth on the steamer has been booked. The Kumara will leave at daylight next Sunday for Picton, to load Home cargo at that port. -- - , _ The Eakanon. which arrived.., yesterday from Sydney, which port she left on March Sthjhas a load of 1390 tons ,of coal and 812,000 ft of timber for this;port; The, Waikare. which is due, here to-mor-row; from Sydney via Oakland and East Coast, took in a cargo of ..1000 tons of coal and’looo sleepers at Newcastle, ( The Waihora left last -eyeningi for, Lyttelton to load for Sydney.
