' mHIS Company is being formed for the purpose (inter alia) of acquiring from the Jt Vendors the sponge-fishing rights in marine areas, situate at'the Chatham Islands, containing about 8076 acres, and known as Tupuangu and Te Raki. the ame being comprised in Government Leases Nos. 1 and 2, having an area' of 5900 acres and 2176 acres respectively, he the same a little more or less. The Vendors have expended a considerable amount in prospecting the fields, and their representative was successful in locating valuable fields, and also in securing many specimens of a thoroughly marketable sponge. (Vide reports of Sir James Hector and Mr A. Durrand, which are embodied in'the prospectus.) The Company will be registered when 2500 shares are applied for. The Vendors and their friends are taking up 500 contributing shares, so that only 2500-will be available to the public. The shares will be allotted in priority of application. No application for less than 25 share twill be received. The cost of flotation and incorporation will be borne by the Company. It is proposed to call up from time t o time only such amounts as are absolutely necessary to meet current requirements In all probability 10s per share will suffice. 1 The Vendors’ agreement is dated 3rd March, 1901, and is made between James Cowel Cooper, for himself and others, o the one part, and James Andrew Bruce, on behalf of the Company, of the other part, and may be seen, together with the reports, at the office of the Company’s solicitor's.
