To-night Mr George Dean, the popular actor;yo : call st, wilt contribute, to the programme, which is to. bo commended for its allround excellence;.-, CHORAL HALL. . - The Choral Hall was crowded’in all parts on' Saturday night; Thohew’first part, entitled‘“The Cruise of the'Good ■ Ship, Empire,” was received with loud applause, the staging efFeots'heifift .particularly good. Mr Fred Bluett and Mr Geo. Williamson,‘again! caused 'much, laughter and applause by their..amusing efforts.. -Mr- Jack Williams, -MissBessie'Young, - Miss Goralie Barlow-all ■ received well-merited -encores. Iniihe • second part,. Miss, Maud Facing appeared. and proved herself a most capable /•: - artist. Miss who possesses a rich contralto'voice. - seems to'liaye improved - greatly since her last visit .to Wellington. The - performance : closed with! a farce, entitled “On the Firs.” This excellent programme runs -for ihe - current'week. ■< ; MSS CONNELL’S CONCERT. Miss Kate Connell’s farewell - concert - which takes place on Thursday evening, promises be a musical treat of rare excellence. . The; members of the -company supporting 'Miss Connell are firstclass vocalists. Miss Lorraine Tansley is a popular contralto, who travelled with Miss Amy Sherwin omthe’latter’s tour through New Zealand. Miss L’Espagne is an accomplished pianist, and Mr E. H. Buckingham, the baritone, was the gold medallist at the Dunedin Exhibition. Mr Leo Bncberidge, of Napier, Messrs John Prouse and E J. Hill will also assist at Thursday night’s concert | for which a first-class programme is be- ’ ing arranged. The boxplan will be opened at the Dresden this morning at 10 o’clock. • The Nance O’Neill Company passed through Wellington on- Saturday on the. way to Brisbane, where a short season will he commenced next SaturF day. The company came up from Dunedin by the Mokoia, where it had just terminated a successful season, and went on by that vessel in the evening.
