CITY COUNCIL

The Wellington City Council met last night. The Mayor (Mr Aitken) presided, and Councillors Barber, Smith. McGill, Luke, Evans, Townsend, Willeston, Tolhurst, Murdoch, Anderson, Winder and Izard wore present. (o) That the roof of tho shed at the Basin Reserve belonging to the Cricket Association be repaired, it having been damaged by the crowd on fac day of the display by the Imperial troops. (6) That the Scenery Preservation Society be allowed to plant trees at the three places on the Town Belt mentioned in its letter of tSth December - last, provided there is no objection on the part of the tenants, and that as many trees as can be spared from the Botanical Gardens and' Newtown Park be supplied for such planting. (7) That the receipt of the report of the society’s transactions of last year be acknowledged with' thanks.—The report was adopted. * Accounts amounting to £11,359 16s 7d were passed for payment.
