EVENING ENTERTAINMENTS

The Pepper’s Ghost Company repeated its performance of “The Flying Dutchman” at the Opera House last night. The miscellaneous performance was also repeated. To-night, “Faust, 1 ” with spectral accessories, will be produced. A business boom has begun at the Theatre Royal, where the Dix Gaiety Company' comprises quite a galaxy of talent. Last night “the Tylers” joined the company, and opened with a “Risley” act of great merit. Their performance may be shortly described as a marvellous exposition of feet and hand balancing, and it is safe to say that they will form a great draw during their stay in the city. The Misses Boyd and Teuton both had good receptions, and the entertainment as a whole was highly enjoyable. The Fuller Bijou Company gave an enjoyable entertainment at the Choral Hall last night. Mr Fred. Bluett’s hilarious contributions to the programme, and the ballad singing of Miss Lynn, evoked hearty applause. The Lesters—a pair of trapeze artists—gave a very clever “turn,” and were greeted with approval. Mr Joe Watts danced with superabundant energy. Mr T. H. Smith, representative of the Corrick Family, arrived here last night to make arrangements for the company’s farewell visit. The moonlight excursion around the harbour arranged by the Garrison Band for last night was abandoned owing to the unfavourable weather. The bandsmen meet to-morrow night to decide when the excursion shall take place.
