Mes=rs Treadwell and Fulton ail ended with regard to a. new bridge. A statement was submitted showing the proportion of the cost to each local authority interested as follows; —Wellington City Council, one-fourth; Hull; County Council, one-fourth; Bovoug-.i of Potone, one-eighth; Waiiarapa Ninth County, one-fdrty-cighth: Wairarapa South County, one-forty-eighth; Borough of Onslow, one-forty-oighth; Borough of Melrose, one forty-eighth; Borough of Karori, onc-forty-eighth ; Johnsonville Tow-n Board, oue-forty-eiglith; Borough of Lower Hutt, the balance of the cost. It was decided that it was expedient (for tlie purpose of extending the main Hutt road from its present southern extremity to tho eastern end of the punposed now bridge and for tho purpose of forming a. new street from, the eastern. end of the proposed now bridge, Walwetu road) to acquire tho whole <■! the land lying between the River Board stop-bank on the west side of the present Waiwetu road, or the north-cars . hank, and tho proposed new street from the eastern -end of tbo new bridge, and ! the Waiwetu road on tho south.

Oorrespondonee wast received fioin tho Petone Town Clerk complaining that the gas lamps at the Hutt were hc.ng tampered with; stating also that the lights were sometimes put, on ’during the day-time.—lt was resolved to assist; in discovering the perpetrators. Mr Smithies also wrote intimating that he would commence taking the levels, etc., ;n connection with the proposed Hutt Borough improvements next week.

Mr R. Thorpe wrote asking whether the road skirting the Mellow estate on the eastern end was a. public one. Jt was decided to reply that , tin: road nas not a public one, and, further, that the Council had received no notice of i lie cuttiiig-np for sale of the Mellow estate.

Tho treasurer reported that tho monthly receipts were £233 Us Gd and the expenditure, £ll9 Gs, the expenditure, for the current year being £2155 7s sd, leaving a debit balance of £7OO 2s Sd, which, with that night’s payments, would ho increased to £843 4s 7d.

The tenders of Messrs Cinlhy Bros, and Mr Coffey for the supply of i-ielal wore accented.
