tion, for five men.—Foreman J. Cog lan, Firemen E. Redwood, G. Riddell, J. Rid dell and Saunders (of Spit), 36 l-fiscc, 1; Captain Flynn,■ Foremen Graham and Symonds, Branchmau Catherall and Engineer Lypst (of Hastings), 37 l-0.->eo, 2; Captain Campbell, Foremen Nocklen and Newton, Fireman Gilchrist and Lieutenant Shewen (of Timarn), 39soc, 3. Knripuni and Timarn tied, and ran off for third place, Timarn winning. The second times were—Timarn 39sec, and Knripuni 40sec.

Riddell and Saunders, and Branchman J. Riddell (of Spit), 70 l-ssec, 2; Firemen Tonkin, McKenzie, Murray, Salmon and Williams (of Dunedin City), 70 3-osec, 3. Hose and Hydrant Competition, for three men.—Foreman Ballinger, Firemen Ford and Parker (of New Plymouth), 32 2-ssec, 1; Firemen Alexander, Billings and Mein (of Thames) and Foreman W Woodley, Branchman A. Peterson and Fireman H. Cook (of Invercargill), 34 3-ssec, equal. The two teams ran off for second place, and Invercargill won, the time being 44 l-ssec. Thames did not finish. A protest entered by Invercargill against New Plymouth that a fireman had screwed a joint after wafer was struck was dismissed.
