PRESS ASSOCIATION. INVERCARGILL, March 1. The Education Board to-day considered the scale of increases in the salaries of teachers as proposed by the Department. Like other district Boards, this one confessed its inability to discover the basis on which Dm Department had allocated the increases. It was resolved that the Southland grant be allocated as follows: —Salaries over £3OO, 3 per cent, increase; between £3oo*and £2OO, 31- per cent ; £2OO and £l5O, 4 per cent; £l5O ancl £IOO, 44 per cent; pupil teachers, nothing, they being already better paid in this district than in some others.
