POLO.
COMING If EPTIESE XT ATI V E MATCH Speculation is rife as to the personnel of the New Zealand'representative team to meet the Victorians in the match next Wednesday at Palmerston North. Popular fanev, says the •‘Standard.’’ gives the two Strangs, O. Robinson aud A. J 5. Baker a place in the team, while X. Wilson has been mentioned in place of the latter player. Mr Baker, it will ho remembered. was captain of the polo team that visited Australia last year, and during the tour he showed particularly good form. His performance on Wednesday showed that he is undoubtedly entitled to a place in the team, and the polo public, the surest judges of form, are unanimous, in agreeing as to his great claims. He has the advantage of having played with and against the members of the Oroua Club, who are sure to contribute three members of the New Zealand team, for several seasons past. The Selection Committee. Messrs T. Crosse (Hawke’s Bay), Skerrett (Wellington) and another, will meet on Saturday 7 night next to pick the team. The Palmerston paper regrets that the selection of the representative team was not made earlier, so as to enable, combined- practices to be played.
