RIFLE SHOOTING
Colonel Templeton, chairman of the Victorian Rifle Association, has advised Lieutenant-Colonel Sommerville, who is arranging for the annual meeting of the New Zealand Rifle Association, that when the Martini-Henry is competing against the .303 rifle it should be conceded the following handicap : —At 500 and 600 yards, 1 point; at 700 yards, 2 points, for seven shots at each distance- _ This means that in 21 shots the Martini-Hen-ry would get four points as a handicap. It is expected that there will he a large entry in the match men who have served in South Africa, and the Minister of Defence is being urged to provide substantial prizes for that event.
