FIRES
PEESS ASSOCIATION. NELSON, February 25. The nine-roomed residence of Mr A. N. Batchelor, at the Beacons, at the Port, was totally destroyed by fire on Saturday evening. No one was at the house at the time, and when the fire was discovered it had obtained such a strong hold that nothing could be done to save the building or its contents. The house was insured for £350 and the contents for £250, both in the South British office. The loss is estimated at £SOO over the insurance. The origin of the fire is unknown.
