SUPPOSED JEWEL JOBBERY
ARREST IN SYDNEY. (Received February 25.-9.45 p.m.) SYDNEY, February 25. A mid dloflgcd man named Walter Waugh lias been remanded for eight, days «u a charge of having in his possession a. quantity of jewellery, which is supposed to have been stolen.
Accused arrived from New Zealand by the Elingamite, and was arrested after get! iug ashore.
At first he stated that his name was Ward, but ho afterwards admitted that, ho was Waugh, and had lately been in tho employ of Noah Cohen, of Auckland, as a commercial traveller.
Tbo jewellery found in his possession is valued at over £2CO.
