UNITED BUILDING TRADES PICNIC
Tiio United Building Trades, in spite .of the unfavourable, weather, held their second annual picnic at the Government grounds,'Upper Hutt, on Saturday. Tho picnic had already been postponed once, and the committee decided that it would be better to carry out the programme, even though tho company that braved the elements was small. The following officials were present. —Chairman. Mr G. T. Sexton; treasurer, Mr A. Johnston; judges, Messrs J. Mantell and C. Lepper; handicappers, Messrs J. Alexander and J. McGill; starter,Mr. A.' H. Fullford; secretary, Mr W. J. Parsons; committee, Messrs A. McGregor, G. Powell, J. A. Simpson, J. McCulloch. F. Walll?., F. Itoyling, J. Mantel 1, M. Corbett, 'O. McLaren, D. Ban-, J. McGid, H. Builders’ Apprentices QOOyds)—W. Flack, 1; 11. Kerr. 2; J. Patterson, 3. Married Women’s Race—Mrs J. Severn, 1; Mrs D. Oliver 2; Mrs M. Leatham, 3. Apprentices’ Race (100yds, under twenty years of age) —A. Rowell, 1; 11. Elliott, 2. Carpenters’ Race (100yds, subscribers only)—-W. Wagstaff, 1; E. Howe, 2 (In this race Leggett, who came in. first, was disqualified as not being a subscriber). Plasterers’ Race (100yds) Bradley, 1; Hampell, 2; Mantell, 3. Plumbers’ Race (220vds)—-W. Derrent, 1; H. Fletcher, 2. (Derrent having won this cup twice in succession, it becomes his own property). Master Plumbers (100yds)—W. Partqn, 1; H. Davies, 2 ; J. Alexander, 3.
