The Customs returns for yesterday amounted to £1913 17s Bd. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Limited, report as follows on their Palmerston North sale on the 21st instant:—We had a largo yarding of both cattle and sheep, shook coming forward greatly in excess t of advertised numbers. There was a good attendance, but bidding was very slack, and prices for all classes of stock were easier. Although several lines were passed in under the hammer, we were successful iu placing the bulk afterwards. The dairy cows sold on account. of Mr T. H. Morine averaged £5 12s Gd. Messrs Levin and Co., Limited., report that at their nsual fortnightly sale yesterday they offered 75 bales of wool, and about 1500 sheepskins. DUNEDIN WOOL SALES. PRESS ASSOCIATION. DUNEDIN, February 22. The fourth wool sales of the season were held to-day, when 2513 bales were submitted. The total offers for the series show a falling off of close on 2000 bales. The attendance of buyers to-day was well up to the average. .The decline noted in the North was not reflected, owing to brisk competition. Prices, although irregular, were slightly firmer all round than at the last preceding sale.
