ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES

Shortly after tho troopship Cornwall ■was berthed) at the Queen’s wharf yesterday a member of the Sixth Contingent (F. Harris, of Palmerstoh North) met with a very nasty accident. While looking over tho ship Harris was crossing from one side to the other, through a rather dark passage on tho second deck. Evidently-he did not notice an open coal bunker, for he fell headlong into it.. Fortunately the lower hold of the hunker wan nearly full of coal, so that Harris only fell about thirteen feel. He was'brought on deck .and attended to by Dr Henry, who found that Harris had sustained a nasty scalr) wound on his forehead and had received a severe shaking. He was taken to the Hospital in the St. John Ambulance waggon. On inquiring last evening it was found that he was fast recovering from the shock.
