At a meeting of the council of the Auckland Liberal Association, resolutions were carried stating “that this' meeting of the members of the council of the Auckland Liberal Association be formed into an electoral committee to take steps to organise ward committees to endeavour to secure the return of capable men among the workers to represent the city at the coin-* ing municipal elections”; “that members of all labour organisations be invited to send delegatesito co-operate with the electoral committee of tho Liberal Association to select candidates tha? shall be asked to contest the Municipal Council elections.’’ 1 TIMARU, January 22. The Timnru Presbytery to-day accepted tho resignation of the Rev Wm. Gillies and will recommend his appointment by the Assembly as a Minister Emeritus.
