In the matter of "The Municipal Corporations Act, . 1900," and the several Acts amending the same, ‘‘The Wellington City Empowering Act, 1897," "The Wellington City Empowering Act, 1899," and "Tho Public Works Act, 1894."

■jVrOTICE is hereby given that the Couns cil of the City of "Wellington, proposes, under the provisions of the abovementioned Acts, to execute a certain public -work—namely, the Widening of Biddiford street, so as to make it sixty-six feet vide, and also proposes under the like provisions to take, under the Public Works Act, ISfltt, > tho lands described: in the Schedule hereto. And notice is hereby further given that a plan showing the lands required to be taken, together with the names of the owners and occupiers of such lands, so far as they can be ascertained. is deposited in tho public office of the City Engineer to the said Council, situate at the corner of Featherston street and Panama street, in the said City, and is open ;for public inspection without fee by all persons during ordinary office hours. And that jq.ll persons affected by the taking of the said lands shall, if they have any well-grounded objections to the taking of .such .lands, set, forth the same in writing, [and send such writing within forty. Plain bearing free wheel gears do not, of course, allow cycles to run as fast as those with ball bearings, or fixed gears, and they are not adjustable. In time the type of plain hearing free wheel gear will also become free both ways, and therefore useless. As this freedom generally happens when the rider is putting pressure upon his pedals, fie is liable to be thrown. Plain bearing free wheel gears have only one advantage, and that is to the manufacture, who can get them made by cheap labour at Jess than half the cost, and in one-quarter of the time that it takes to make ours with ball bearings containing 124 perfectly gauged steel bails. It is therefore on account of cheap and quick construction that nearly all cycle manufacturers, and the principal makers of cycle parts, are pushing the gale of plain bearing free wheels- most of which, not being really free, are bringing free wheeling into disrepute. ■ For further information apply INGLIS BROS., ' WILLIS STREET..
