Play for the prize presented by the president and vice-presidents of the Wellington Bowling Green will commence tomorrow morning at 9 o’clock. The attendance of ladies is specially invited. In the final of the singles championship at the bowling tournament at Christchurch, won by W. H. Bright well, of the Newtown Club, the game (says' the “Press’’) at first looked rather a good thing for the local man, Mr J. C. Maddison, but the consistently fine play of Brigbtwell ultimately carried him to victory. Maddison opened with a single in the first head, and Brigbtwell responded in the second heat with a similar score. On the. third and fourth heads Brigbtwell failed to score, Maddison making one on the third and two on the fourth head. On the fifth head Brigbtwell scored; two, and Maddison followed suit on the sixth. Brigbtwell got a single on the seventh, and Maddison scored a brace of singles on the eighth and ninth heads. Brigbtwell balanced matters on tbe tenth and eleventh by a couple of singles. Maddison then got in three on the twelfth head, and one on the thirteenth. At the fourteenth head Maudison failed to score, and Brackenridge got one. Total scores at fourteen heads—Maddison 11, Brigbtwell 8. At the fifteenth and sixteenth Brigbtwell scored singles, and at the seventeenth Maddison got in one. At the eighteenth head Brigbtwell got three in, making the score thirteen all at eighteen heads. Maddison failed to score at the remaining three heads. On the twentieth head Brigbtwell got in three, and in the last head Maddison drove all his balls off, enabling Brightwell to score with alb four. Pinal score—Brightwell 21, Maddison 13. A match was played on the Thcrndon green on Friday last for the Hey wood Ruckles, between Longton and Mowbray (skip) and King and Hickson (skip). The game resulted in a win for King and Hickson by 19 points to 13.
