THE HOLIDAY TO-MORROW.

The choice of where to spend the holiday to-morrow is a wide one, and. difficult to please indeed must the person ho who cannot make a selection from amongst the numerous attractions offered, oTther by rail, steamboat or road, to spend a "pleasant day. The atmospheric conditions are at present in favour of the weather being all that could bo desired for outdoor enjoyment, and it is probable that every means of locomotion will bo taxed to the utmost to supply the demands of holiday-makers. Holiday excursion lares will prevail on the railways, and extra, trains have been laid on to meet the demands of the public. Special trains will be run to Mastertou and intermediate stations from Wellington station at 7.2 a.m. and 0.2 p.m. The ordinary time-table will be suspended on the Wellington, and M.niawatu Railway Company’s line, and trains will leave For Palmerston at 7.25 a.m. and 4 p.m.; for Paikakariki and stations south at 7.25, 10.10, 11.15 a.m. and l.l’O. 4 and 0 p.m.

Sporting people will be offered an opportunity of visiting the Wellington Racing Chib’s Summer Meeting, which opens oh Tuesday. From the numerous entries andl quality of the “cattle” competing, there should be good sport. The train arrangements as usual will be found suitable for those wishing to attend-

The Marist Bros.’ Old Boys hold a picnic at the railway recreation reserve at Upper Hutt. The Wellington Amateur Swimming Club will hold its seventh annual carnival at the Queen’s Wharf, commencing at 2.30 p.ra. The Wellington Steam Ferry Company’s popular boats Duchess, Countess and Duco will run excursions to Day’s Bay at short intervals during the day. The annual picnic of Hutt Wesleyan Sunday School will be held at Blackbridge, Lower Hutt. Port Yacht Club will hold sailing races, commencing at 10.30 a.rn. A. “Pinafore” ball will be held in the Oddfellows’ Hall, Upper Hutt. In the evening the choice of places of amusement is a varied one. The Opera Housef, Theatre .Royal, Feciergl Theatre, Choral Hall and Wirth’s circus all offer attractions, which no doubt will he fully taken advantage of. The picnic and sports under the auspices of the Marist Bros.’ Old Boys’ Association will he helu at flic Upper Hutt to-morrow. The committee has made complete arrangements for the day’s outing. Hob water will he provided free, and the children may have the use of swings and swing-boats free of charge. Tiie fares, including admission to the grounds are : —Adults, 2s ■ children., Is. The time of departure of the picnic trains are advertised elsewhere. The Railway Department requests that owing to the possibility of a large attendance, parents and their children should travel by the first picnic train.
