BANKRUPTCY.
MEETING OF CREDITORS.. Tlio creditors in the estate of Hone iieke. held a meeting yesterday afternoon at the office of the Official Assignee. According to the statement filed by the debtor his liabilities amount tf £719 Is Id and hi-s assets to £l2 7s 6<l leaving a deGeit of £O7O 13s 7cl. Tin only secured creditor was, the Union Rank of Austra.liii, which, for a £77 12; ni debt, holds as security abonf twentylive acres of property near Kaikohe, Ray of Islands, rallied at £l3O. Mi' Henry IVright (in the absence o the Official Assignee) was voted.to tin chair. A number of creditors were represent cJ by Mr C. 11. Izard, Mr J. Sinclair of Auckland, was represented by At: Tringham, Mr M. Myers appeared hr the Union Bank of Aur-tvuUo, and M’J. P. Campbell represented Messrs Sinr and M.uiv. ' The debtor, who was present, was no l represented by counsel. The .statement of the debtor was taker as read. A letter was read from tin Official Assignee at Auckland to the Wellington Official Assignee giving tin result of an interview the former official had with the Hon <J. Carroll in refer(nice to Mr Hone Hoke’s chances of re election to the House ot\Roprcscntafives. Mr Carroll considered Mr Jinks was sure- (o he elected. as (he native? in his constituency were anxious to assist him. Mr Izard said ibat, nearly all the creditors ho had communicated with hat a wed to ."ii immediate discharge, or condition that judgment should he filed
against Ifeue Hoke under section 12 of the* Thud:;irlev Act of 1892. which although it ai.- ia, bankruptcy, still kept the debts alive. He moved tin billowing resolution;—‘'That an immediate order of discharge he granted t( tlio bankrupt on hi.s consenting to judgment being entered against him under subsection D of section 127 of the Bankruptcy Act 1802. for the amount of the approved debts.’’ Mr A. TJndsay seconded the motion, which was carried. Mr Tringbam (for Mr Sinclair, of Auckland) voting against it and Mr Myers ('for the Union Bank of Australia, the only secured creditor) not voting. The mooting then adjourned.
