The market rate of discount for best three months 3 bills is \ lower, at 3j per cent. The Bank of England rate is 4 per cent., as against 3 per cent, on the' 18th July, 31 per cent, on the l*u. June, and 4 per cent, on the 23rd May. > COLONIAL AND OTHER PRODUCE. Wheat is dull. The renewal of the hot weather has depressed the market. Victorian, May-Juno shipments, are quoted at 31s per quarter, c.i.f. Sugar is declining German beet, 88deg., 3d lower, at 11s 9d per owt. Bradford Tops—The market is firm. Common sixties, unchanged, at 20d per lb; super sixties, unchanged, at 21d per lb. • THE PRICES OF METALS.

Copper—The quotations are nominal. Spot, unchanged, at £74 per ton; three months’, 2s 6d higher, at £74 10s per ton. Tin is dull. Spot, 35s lower, at £ll2 15s per ton; three months’, unchanged, at £127 10s per ton. 1 Pig iron—Glasgow warrants. No. 1, casl), 9d lower, at 72s 9d per ton f.o.bs in Clyde. Lead, unchanged, at £l7 15s per ton. COAL EXPORTS. GREYMOUTH, August 18. The coal exports for the week were: —Blackball Company, 2067 tons; Brunner Company, 1133 tons. WESTPORT, August IS. During the week 7820 tons coal were shipped by the Westport Coal Company and 500 tons by the Mokihinui Co-opera-tive Company.'
