The Customs returns for Saturday amounted to £706 13s 3d; for the past week, £9319 15s 7d. The beer duty for tho week totalled .£154 19s 4d.
Messrs Freeman It. Jackson and Co. report of their .Wanganui stock sale as follows:—Store and breeding cows brought £2 16s 6d, breeding heifers £3 3s, 20-months heifers £2 12s 6d, mixed weaners and yearlings 35s 6d, 15 to 18months heifers £2 10s, store wethers 12s 3d, fat wethers los to 15s bd, fat ewes 12s 5d to 12s Bd, forward ewes 9s, small lambs 6s to 6s 3d, pigs at last week’s prices.—The property of Mr Jas. Dickie, which was sold at Waverley, realised £ls 10s per acre. In their annual statement of the affairs of the Wellington Meat Export Company the directors congratulate th'e shareholders upon the satisfactory result of the year’s business. After making provision for writing down properties and plant, there remains to credit of profit and loss account £28.155 14s, 2d, including the amount carried forward last year, £3021 9s sa; £IO,OOO has been placed to the reserve fund, and £4650 added to the insurance reserve. From the balance, £13,505 14s 2d, your directors recommend the payment of a dividend of Bper cent., with an added bonus of 2 per cent., which will absorb £4993 10s 3d. They also recommend a rebate of 10 per cent. on. freezing charges for meat shipped on owner’s’ account, which will absorb £596 5s 9d. The balance remaining, £7915 18s 2d, will "be carried forward to next year. The new fellraongcry, which was under contract last year; was completed in due course, and is found to be a profitable investment.
