WAR RELIEF FUNDS.

THE MAYOR’S LIST. At a meeting of citizens of .Wellington held on Thursday, the 21st December, the Mayor (Mr J. G. W. Aitken) presiding, it was resolved—“ That a committee be set up to deal with the money subscribed, and to be subscribed, towards the Mayor’s Patriotic Fund fo’r the relief of the distress caused by the present South African war : first, for the benefit of the members of our New Zealand contingent who may either be wounded or injuriously affected through , having answered their country’s call; second, for the soldiers and sailors of the Queen serving in South Africa, or those dependent on them; third, for tl\e relief of the South African refugees.” In accord* ance with this resolution, a list has been opened at the City Council Chambers. The following subscriptions, in addition to those previously acknowledged, have been received :
