Acceptances will close to-day at noon for the events in connection with the second, day’s meeting of the Wellington Racing Club. Three horses were successful in securing doubles at the WoodviUo J.C. meeting—the Wairarapa-trairied. Aide-de-camp, Roseplot, and Famous..; The racing on both days was good , and the club will no doubt come out with a. profit over the gathering. A snip rise was affected by the Hastings mure Jadco, by Jot d’Eau, in the, Woopdvillo Handicap, the principal event of the mooting. She had a. handy weight in 7st, and boat Bona Fide homo by a length. Philantrophist sot a hot pace at the outset, and was challenged by Bona Fide and the favourite Sylvia. Park, •who. however, was soon beaten, his 9st 111 b finding him out. Worry made a. groat finish of it, and wSs alongside tho_ second horse or. the post. The favourite wa.s certainly giving . away , u great deal of weight, as much as Sst Sib in one ease; ho may ho worth following at the Hutt next week. Judoo was comparatively unfancied and returned 810 ICs. Thefo was a groat finish in the . Trial Handicap at Woodvillo between Mystify and Aide-de-camp, the former, who is by Poimamu—Mystery, winning and paying £2 ss. Rosette and The Dude were the only other starters. Aide-de-camp's opportunity came on the second day, when he downed his solitary opponent Natella in the Ruahinc Hack Race, and scoring in the Whariti Hack Handicap in which he paid £5 10s. Czarina was second on this occasion. Peters’ stable consequently provided the runner-up both times. Roseplot, who is trained by Jack Belcher, and who is by the Musket horse Catesby, out of Rosalind, paid the best dividend of (be meeting in the Flying Handicap—£l3 13s. Alert, another of the starters, was paying a similar dividend, the other four being equally backed. On the second day Roseplot returned £o 4s in the Stewards’ Handicap, so that bis followers must have reaped a nice harvest. ■

The bracelets presented. by Messrs Cotter and Bolton, ivcro competed for for the first time at the Woodvillo meeting. Myra was tbo public elect, but bad. to give way to Full Charge, who was ridden by Mr Calccott. The winner, who is trained by Jack Maher, paid £S 195., Ho is one of the useful 'sort, and should be heard from again shortly. Famous, who won a double, must ho in very good form as Will-o'-the-wisp, a speedy galloper, had to run second in the seven furlong Borough Handicap on the first day. There were only three starters, and it Was possibly owing to this performance that Will-o’-the-wisp was allowed to pay £6 8s in fthe Summer Handicap on the day following. Will-o’-thc-wisp was ridden by "Robinson fiiiir., who now trains his father’s horses, Victoria Cross, who made fhc pace a cracker in the Borough Handicap, is scarcely forward enough yet. She is speedy over short courses and may be worth bearing in mind later on. She got placed on three occasions, being behind Sentry, who beat Quiltina after a great race in. the Electric, and also to lurepo, who scored in the Railway Handicap. The last named is by Torester, cut of The Gift. The Sou-’wester horse ,'Nayborn accounted for the Hurdles and acted as runner-up to The Weaver in the We!(cr whLe on the second day he was third to Omnia in tiro other obstacle event. The three winners named were ail favourites. Vibration placed a win to the credit of Mr Paul, fhc Wanganui sportsman, boating Alert, who is by Dreadnought. The Masterton Racing Club is submitting a good programme for its March meeting. There will be eight events all, the value cf the stakes being £715. This is an increase of £lO5 over the amount offered last year. The committee of the club has decided to reduce the nominations to ten shillings, the amount of the difference to be added to the acceptance. This step, it is urged, ' will meet with the approval of owners’ and no doubt ii wili. as the .smaller fee should induce a lamer entry list. The Hawke’s Bay horse Push Rosa has been taken in hand again. The ground committee of the 3Jastorton Chib is to consider the ouestic-n of a fresh lease of the raceeouTV. ft is litel’- that ttye course will he considerably improved shortly.
