After the bustle attending the arrival and departure of so many vessels on Saturday and Sunday, the wharves presented a very quiet appearaneo during yesterday’s holiday. In the two preceding davs the arrivals numbered 15 steamers, and both on Saturday and Sunday the departures, including the Waiwern, were numerous. Yesterday there were only three arrivals and five departures. During the afternoon things brightened up as far as the crowd on the Queen's 'Wharf was concerned—a large number being attracted there by the Wellington Club’s annual swimming races. 0

The Eotomahana arrived from Lyttelton last evening with about 40 excursionists. She left again for that port at 8 o’clock, with 200 excursionists.

Tiie Flora, arrived on Sunday from Dunedin and Lyttelton with 21 saloon passengers, and loft yesterday, after discharging and taking in cargo, for Napier. Gisborne and Auckland.

The Government has arranged to charter the W estnort dredge For deepening tlie present wharf approach at Onchuuga. The cutter Ettie White arrived at Apia from Auckland on the sth hist. Fine weather was experienced until approaching Tntniln, when some rough weather was m?f with, but the little vessel came through it without any damage. The cutter is to be engaged in the Samoan coastal trade, having been purchased by Mr W. Blaekloek. The American barque Mary Hasbrouck, which put into Pernambuco in October last, whilst on the voyage from Auckland to New York, arrived at tlie latter port on November 28. The barque Orari, Captain Fowler, left Liverpool on December 3 for Dunedin and Wellington.
