SOUTH SEAS EXCURSION.

THE W AIK ARE BACK AGAIN. “We had a most delightful trip/’ was the reply of. Captain Richardson, of the Waikare, when asked yesterday about the steamer’s recently-completed cruise among the islands of the South Seas. The following is a concise report of the movements of the Union liner during the trip:—The-Wai-kare sailed fftm Sydney on the 3rd July, called at Auckland on the 7th, and arrived at Nukualofa on the 12th; left at daylight and ‘arrived at Vavau, via Kao and Tofa volcanoes, early on the 14th, and left on the 15th; anchored in Apia harbour on the 16th; sailed at midiiight on the 19th; called at Pago Pago on the 20th, Levnka on the 22ad, and arrived at SiXva at noon on the 23rd; left on the 27th; called at Eotumah on the 29th; steamed through Banks Group on the 31st: stopping off Vanua Lava, and arrived at Port Sandwich on the Ist August; , loft on the 3rd, arrived at Vila at 2 p.m. same day, proceeded at 8 p.m., called at Tanua on the sth, and arrived at Noumea on the 6th; left on the 11th, and called at the Isle of Pines the same day, and departed thence at 6 p.m. for Sydney. The Waikare left Sydney at 5 p.m. on Thursday, and encountered a strong southeast gale for the first two days, thence fine weather to arrival at Wellington. The steamer left yesterday for Port Chalmers, i and will there lay up for an overhaul.
