Dreyfus told his wife during an interview that while ho was suffering from fever on Devil’s Island, m September, 1896, he was handcuffed and chained to his bed. This continued for two months, his gaolers hoping to cause his death; but he was resolved to live. Owing to tiie many letters which were sent him being withheld, for six months ho imagined he was forsaken.
