A POLICEMAN’S ADVENTURE.
WOUNDED BY A WOULD-BE ASSASSIN. (Received May 22, 1.20 a.m.) MELBOU Kin E, Sunday. Constable Nichol, when patroling Abbotsford, a suburb of Melbourne, early this morning, found a man in a gutter groaning. The constable bent to examine the man when he shot Constable Nichol in the shoulder and then decamped.
Nichol pursued the man, but unsuccessfully. The wound is not a dangerous one.
