A hotel which adjoins the chaffcattmg works, and also seven ill residences, were badly damaged. ; • The force of the explosion may oc judged from the fact that bricks were blown through the wall's, and that the roof of the factory wits carried 100 yards away, while larg-v pieces of iron were hurled over 500 ynrds. . A girl named Pinner i* eceived painful injuries to her head from flying debris.
