During the evening a lady s gold watch, which is now 011 ™ w . at Lloyd’s, will be given away. All who visit the Greenwoods to-night may anticipate a night’s enjoyment. “THE SILENCE OF DEAN MAITLAND." The powerful drama, “The Silence of Dean Maitland,” was repeated at the Opera House last night by the Maggie Moore and S R Eoberts combination. The performance throughout was excellent, and went with a most acceptable smoothness, ine chief interest, of course, centred in the Dean, of which character Mr H. K. Eoberts gave a most powerful portrayal, more especially m his soliloquies, and in the final scone when, standing before the altar, ho reveals the secret of life. The other characters were all m capable bands, Miss Maggie Moore partimlarlv giving a very pleasant and sympathetic representation of the character of Lilian Maitland, the Dean’s Ulster, and the fiancee of the victim of hia deceit. Miss Ada WoodhiU acted very naturally as Alma Lee, while Mr Walter Eivera deserves a word of praise for his really excellent sketch of Granfer, an old village worthy. The piece was well mounted and most of the scenes evoked rounds of hearty applause from the audience. “ The Silence of Dean Maitland ” will be staged for the last time tonight. and'will give place on Thursday to “Struck Oil,” in which Miss Maggie Moore has earned such reputation as Lizzie Stofel.
