A SOUTHERN CRUISE. The Government steamer Tntanekai returned from a cruise among the islands lying to the southward of the South Island yesterday and her officers report that there was fine weather generally throughout the trip. The one exception was a fierce cyclonic storm experienced between the Snares and the Auckland Islands, during which the steamer was hove-to for 14 hours. This stoim was accompanied by very high seas, which did not decrease for two or three days. A homewardbound barque and a large steamer were sighted about 30 miles north of the Antipodes, and a full rigged ship was seen 40 miles south-south-east of Cape Saunders on Sunday last. At the Maoquaries some - 380 oasts of penguin oil were shipped and discharged ogain at the Bluff. A very beautiful display of the Aurora Australia was observed while at the Maoquaries, and appeared with . startling.brillianoe for four successive nights.
