SUICIDES.
PBESS ASSOCIATION. ; Auckland, Monday. ; A man named John Sutton, aged 65, for inany years in the employ of Messrs McArthur and Co. as a bookkeeper, shot himself in his bedroom"this evening. Ha whs suffering from cancer in the stomach, and the doctors hold out' no hope of his recovery. . lie left a sealed letter for the Public Trustee, ‘which stated that, he had saived ‘ several hundreds - of. pounds, i : Ho was a single man, and had no relatives in the colony. ‘ ■ > Dunedin, Monday. During the passage of ' the Margaret jGalbraith, which arrived to-day from LonSdbn,T. H Ball, the cook and steward, committed suicide ;by j umping, overboard; He ’was standing on the rail by the sailmaker, who told him to come down. He did so, hut was missed some time afterwards and, evidently carried out what is supposed to have been his intention.
