The Postmaster-General says that the Government did not hold a high opinion of the 'Vancouver ihail service, ivhiiih involved a loss to tho colony of AJBOOO yearly, and it was doubtful whether New South Wales would renew the subsidy. Referring to the San Francisco service, he said a sum necessary for its continuance would be placed on the Estimates. An improved service would bo appreciated by the Government if it could be obtained. The Postmaster-General added that, in his opinion, the colony had been paying too many subsidies and getting too little for the money. This referred to cable services as well as mail arrangements.
