AQUATICS.
WELLINGTON ROWING CLUB. Several heats were got off last night. Spencer (stroke). Book (3), Hollis (2), Tindall (bow) and MoKeegan (cox) rowed Spargo (stroke), J. MoAlpine (3), F. Christie (2), Thompson (bow) and' Gyles (oox), the result being a dead heat. Shilling (stroke), Bond (3), MoKay (2), Leggett (bow) and Gyles (oox) defeated Crawford (stroke), McKenzie (3), Sullivan (2), Fisher (bow) and MoKeegan (cox) by halt a length. Mr G, Read (captain) aeted as judge, STAR BOATING CLUB. The following heats were got off last night:— Seniors. First and final heat —R. Pownall (stroke), F. G. Humo (No. 3), C. B. Trimnell (No. 2), and C. Palmer (bow), Weston (oox), beat C. Maudsley (stroke), W. H. Rowe (No. 3), J, E. Widdop (No. 2) and F. Mitchell (bow), Brewer (cox), and A. H. Barnett (stroke), A. J. S. Thomson (No. 3), G. C. Tripe (No. 8) and J. B. Marriaon (bow), Cnrtis (oox), by half a length after a magnificent race. Barnett went off with a lead, which he maintained for three parts of the way, when Pownall, whose crew rowed a fine steady stroke, challenged him and drew level. A ding-dong “go ” then resulted to within two lengths of the finish, when Pownall, by a brilliant spurt, secured first plaoe by half a length. Maudsley and Barnett rowed a dead-beat for second place, the former ooming with a goad spurt towards tho finish. Juniors. First round A. B. Rosa (stroke), V. Meredith (No, 3), Cooper (No. 2) and R. Gray (bow), Brower (oox), and Duigan (stroke), G. 0. Sooloa (No. 3), Exley (No. 2), Townsend (bow). Halos (oox), rowed a dead-heat, Moeller (stroke), Fitzherbert (No. 3), Innis (No. 2) and Qalo (bow) being two and a half lengths away. In the second heat, A. E. Wiggins (stroke), Poster (No. 3), A. Gray (No. 2) and Newey (bow), Brewer (oox), beat G. Sohrab (stroke), T. Hickson (No. 3), Richardson (No. 2), Cachoroiille (bow), Hales (cox), by two lengths and a half. The third round re-ulted in a dead heat between D. Menzies (stroke), E. Fitz Gerald (No. 3), E. Paisley (No. 8), G. Fleetwood (bow), Halos (oox) and D. R MaoLennau (stroke), H. B. Richards (No. 3), 3. Trip® (No. 2), B. E. Kirker (bow), Brower (cox). The remaining heats will bi rowed to-morrow afternoon, weather permitting. Messrs G. H. Bethune and H, S, Wiggins judged the races, and Messrs C. Pearoe and VY. H. Mqrrah were the a tatters.
