THE public are reminded that under . the Board’s by-laws only a limited number of caba and expresses are permitted to bo on tbe wharf plying for hire at one time, and that it is therefore necessary for persons desiring that a special cab or express should be in attendance on tbe arrival of any steamer to give a written order to the driver of such vehicle tor production to the wharf constable. NOTICE is hereby given that application is intended to be made at the next session of the General Assembly of New Zealand for leave to bring in a Bill to authorise the promoter and his assigns and licensees to use and hire for use any vehicle propelled by mechanical power which unladen is under three tons in weight, either used alone or for the purpose of drawing one vehicle, and no more, of fiuoh weight that 1 tbe combined weight of the two when unladen shall not exceed four tons, such vehicle being so constructed that no smoke or visible vapour is emitted therefrom, except from some temporary or accidental cause. Copies of the Rill will be deposited at tbe office of the Examiner of Standing Orders on or before the commencement of the session, and may also be had upon application to the undersigned. It is intended to amend the law in favour of the promoter so that he may use vehicles as before described, subject only to the enactments, rules, or regulations affecting vehicles generally, and to exempt each locamotives used or hired by the promotel or his licensees from the provisions of the Police Offences Acta, 1890 and 1891, and all other provisions regulating the use ot traction engines, but subject to the provisions of the said Bill for the making of regulations by the Governor in-Council regulating the keeping and use of petroleum and inflammable liquids or fuel intended to be used for such light locomotives, and exempting the same from tbe law at present regulating tbe same.
