TO-DAY’S REVIEW AND SHAM FIGHT, The local Volunteers will bo reviewed at Island Pay to-day by His Excellency the Governor. The day’s operations will also inelude a sham fight, m which the Navala will act a- the attacking force, and tho D Battery and infantry as the defenders. The men will leave Mount Cook at 9 a.m. for tho scene i,f operations, and the review and the firing of the usual Hoyal salute and feu dejoie will take place shortly before I o’clock. It is expected that the men will return to town about 2.30 p.m. Major Collins, in the absence of Lieut -Colonel Newall, who, with the Wellington detachment of tho Permanent Force, will rot be able to reach here from Pawene until to-morrow, will be in command of the -Volnnteers.

Mr H. G. Robinson has been appointed secretary pro tent of the College Rifies, and circulars and forms of applications for enrolment have been issued. A large number of intending members have already given In their names. Most of these are ex-membera of the Well ngton College, but there are als-T representatives among them of nearly all the other colleges in New Zealand. At a meeting of the committee yesterday afternoon it was resolved to rail a meeting for Friday next for the purpose of finally < forming . the corps. Another batch of members of the newlyformed Cycling Corps was sworn in before Major Collins at the Drillshed last night. 'I he corps will be represented at the operations of th« Volunteers to-day by an officer and bugler This is, we believe, the first time such a corps has been represented at volunteer manmavres in Australasia.
