EARTHQUAKES IN ENGLAND.

An earthquake was felt in the West of England yesterday, being especially severe in Stroud (Gloucestershire) and Ledbury (Serofordshiro). The houses rocked and the inhabitants ran into the streets. Hereford Cathedral suffered some damage. A woman was so terrified that she died from the shook At 5 o’clock this morning further shocks Were felt over a still wider area, extending from Cardigan to the Thames Valley, trt Chester and Lancashire they were seVord, but no serious accident occurred; Later. I'oilf ahdoks of earthquake were _ felt altogether, in some places lasting a minute and a half. The severest occurred at Birmingham and Worcester, and in Shropshire. The tremors were preceded by a rushing noise like that of a hurricane. At Darloy some Workmen were thrown to the ground. The earthquake was only slightly felt in the vicinity of London, Received it), i.lo a.m. LONDON, December 18. i'uo worst of the earthquake was felt iu Wales and west of the Midlands. It also reached Durham and Lincoln. The shako was felt in over 200 towns and villages. The tower of Windsor Castle rooked.
