DESTRUCTION OF MR RHODES' COLLECTION.
By Telegraph,—Brest Association-Copyright. Received December 17, 5 p.m. Capetown, December 17. The fire at Cecil Rhodes’ residence was the result of incendiarism. His Zimbabwe relics were destroyed.
The Zimbabye rains in RTashonalaud, from which Mr Rhodes’ collection was derived, are of very remote antiquity. They stand 3300 ft above sea level, and consist of a large elliptical building of unmortared masonry, with walls 35fc high and Iflft thick, and form an immensely strong labyrinthine fortress, which is believed to have be?n built by pre-Mohammedan Arabians.
