WEIGHTS for the second day’s handicaps will be declared about noon on THURSDAY, July 23rd, and acceptances close the same night at 9 o’clock. Note. —The minimum weight in handicaps of all races on the fiat is 9st. Definitions.—Qualified Hunters are horses that have been regularly hunted with a recognised pack of hounds during the seasons 1895 or 1896, and the master’s certificate of qualification must be produced at the scales. Hack.—A Hack is a horse that has never won an advertised race at any time (back and hunter races excepted), and is not or has not been nominated in any race other than hack and hunter races at the same meeting. All nominations, entries and acceptances, accompanied by the necessary amounts payable, close at the Olub Hotel, Wellington, not later than 9 p.m. on the advertised dates of closing. 1 The New Zealand Rules of Racing will be strictly adhered to.
