Rumour that Further British Reinforcements are Required Is Officially Denied, By Telegraph.—Press Association.—Copyright. Received July 17, 11 p.m. London, July 16. Mr Chamberlain, replying to a question in the House cf Commons, said that certain alarming reports which were in circulation that reinforcements were required for Matabelelacd were without foundation, as Major-General Carrington, commander of the forces operating against the natives, had cabled so late as Saturday last that tho present troops were sufficient. BUT THIS LOOKS LIKE ANOTHER STORY. Received July 18, I a.m, Capetown, July 17. Many settlers, along with their wives and families, are leaving Rhodesia.
