From Our Own Correspondent. Palmerston North, October 16. The Borough Council has resolved to ask the Fitzherbert Road Boaid that their engineer consult with the Borough Inspector of Works as to tho repairs necessary at Fitzherbert Bridge. Mr Jubal Fleming has taken over tho Albion Hotel from Mr Levy. At the annual meeting of the Palmerston Lawn Tennis Club officers were elected, and tho subscription was fixed as follows: Gentlemen, J!1 10s; ladles, 15s j nonplaying ladies, ss. The Justice Department has notified that as the total number of Supreme Court cases from Palmerston during three years did not exceed 97, it is not necessary to establish sittings of the Supreme Court here. The Mayor has given notice to move foi a special meeting of the Borough Council to consider tho question of a loan for new municipal buildings. Our old well - known townsman Mr Alexander Ferguson is to start business in Wanganui as bookseller and stationer. The bowling green was opened this afternoon for the season by the Mayor.
