Received October 17, 0.50 a.m. London, October 16. One thousand Christian notables of Crete have taken up arms and retreated to the mountains in order to avoid arrest. They threaten to raise a rebellion. Fifty Armenians have been massacred at Akhessar. The prevalent discontent among the Moslems of Constantinople is alarming the Sultan.
