In the presence of a committee of medical gentlemen, Professor Kennedy, the hypnotist, placed a man in a hypnotic trance, which, it is expected, will extend for a week. This is the first time the feat has been attempted in the Southern Hemisphere. The Marino Board has found that the hulk Gera, which foundered off Broken Bay while being towed from Newcastle to Sydney, was lost through springing a leak, and no blame rested on any of those on board. The Argus, commenting on the raid at Oxonham’s, stigmatises the making of police raids in business hours oh what are ostensibly business establishments, and the apprehension of all and sundry, as an unfair and pigheaded procedure.
