THE WELLINGTON CATHEDRAL.

• - TO TUB KDITOH. ■ 1 Sib, —Yon were kind enough to'insert in the New Zealand Times a notice of Mr John Plimmer’s generous offer of .£SOO for our proposed cathedral. ■ I venture to think you will be interested to hear that this has been followed by an offer of .£IOOO from the Eev W. Booth (of Carterton, Wellington). He promises to pay £SOO of this sum when the contract for building is signed, and the remaining £SOO when the contract is. completed. < He stipulates. only that the building material used, the architectural design and the seating capacity shall be at least equal to' those of the new Cathedral, af Napier., I have not yet seen that building, .but having regard to the size and importance of our own city I cannot regard the stipulation as at all unreasonable. Our great need now is a site within easy distance of the Courtenay place district.—X ain,’&c., Pbederic, Wellington. ■ Bishopsoourt,. ■ ■ v - ' Wellington, sth August; 1895. v ‘ '
