At a meeting of the Now York Suicide Club representatives of the press wore present. No speeches wore delivered, but lots were drawn as to who should next commit suicide. The doomed man retired from the meeting without emotion, and under the rules of the Club must do away with himself within a fortnight. Crowds of spectators, chiefly foreigners, assembled outside the Club’s rooms. RISE IN CONSOLS. London, J une 27. Consols are quoted at over 107. The rise is attributed to tho change of Ministry. Major-General Tullooh, in an article in the Nineteenth Century, declares that payment of members is blighting political life in Australia. London, June 27. Lord Brassey, comparing the newest types of warships assembled at Kiel, states that the English battleships and cruisers were second to none. Their provision for bow and stern fire was the most formidable. The German ships wore a decided success, but the Italians were inadequately protected by their armour.
