.From Our Oum Correspondent. CHARGED WITH OPENING ANOTHER PERSON’S LETTER. Palmerston North, May 21. At tho Magistrate’s Court to-day, before Mr Stanford, S.M., George Stordy, telegraphist, was charged with opening a post letter on tho 14 1 b May addressed to Mfs 0, Rickard, Ohan. Sir Cooko appeared for tho prosecution, and Air Hankins for tho accused. Mrs Evans, Fitzherbcrt road, who wrolb tho letter to her daughter, Mrs Rickard; John lanrouson, a post oil!co official; and George Worth and W. McKinnon, telegraphists, gavo evidence, and accused was then committed for trial at tho next sitting of tho District Court in Palmerston North on tho 4th Juno. Ho was admitted to bail.
Palmerston North, May 21. Mr Miles, secretary of tho Manawatn and West Coast Agricultural and Pastoral Association, has written to all similar associations in tho Colony suggesting that the Minister of Agriculture call a conference of delegates from the various associations to discuss Air Nathan’s scheme. the Orchestral. Society is doing splendidly. Last night there was an excellent practice.
