LORD BRASSEY.
TO BE GOVERNOR OF VICTORIA. By Telegraph,—Press Association. — Copyright. London, January 16. Lord Brassey has accepted the Governorship of Victoria, in succession to Lord Hopetoun, whose term of office is about to expire. Received January 17, 0.50 a.m. London, January 16. The Daily Telegraph congratulates the Empire and tho colonies on Lord Brassey’s acceptance of the Governorship of Victoria, especially in view of the threatened reduction in the salary of the office. The Daily News says-Lord Brassey is the right man in the right place. At the same time the paper highly eulogises Lord Hopetoun’s record in Victoria.
